It has recently come to my attention that a member of the community www.optiboard.com has been contacting it’s sponsors in a negative manner. I want to remind us all that PROFESSIONALISM should be one of our most pressing concerns. We must act and behave in a professional manner at all times in this industry it is a responsibility that I have only recently myself begun to understand. I urge those that use the forum Optiboard to write the sponsors and let them know you appresciate their support.

The NCSORB (National Committee of State Optical Regulatory Boards) has put together a task analysis survey that will help put together a national practical examination. This is a great effort and I encourage every one to take the survey and let at least 5 people you know in the industry know about this link. Through your efforts we can help better our profession.

Commonly used in the lab the segment inset will vary depending on the power, center of rotation to cornela apex, vertex distance, and working distance. This excel sheet will allow the user to input the correct variables and compute a more accurate inset. This came about from hearing the commonly used “just subtract 3mm from the distance PD”.

It is appaling to see that opticians can and often do educate themselves out of jobs. This trend seems to be enforced by our industry to help line pockets with profit instead of provide quality service to the public. The goal for this petition is to create yet another effective tool to highlight the state of affairs, we need 5000 signatures to meet our goal please do your part and spread the word. To those in unlicensed states please contact me to create a similar petition and promote it here and formulate a nationwide plan.
